One of my favorite parts of summer is going to Gulf Island Waterpark with the kids. My children are literally counting the days until they can hit the Lazy Pearl River & race against each other on the Riptide Racer. As a mother, it’s all about convenience. I can take a short drive to Gulfport with very little traffic and spend the day with the kids at the waterpark without the worry of overcrowding. I have school-aged children (12 & 8 years old) so just like any mother, safety is my number one concern. I love that the park is more »

If you are like me and you learned how to swim as a child, the importance of swimming skills may no longer be obvious to you. Swimming instruction for children has greatly advanced compared to just twenty years ago. The importance of swimming lessons for water safety can’t be overstated. Everyone, especially children should be able to swim. That skill should be instilled early in life. Sadly, this is not the case. Every day 9 people die by drowning in up to an inch of water, in the U.S. That’s also why you should never let a child play near more »

I was looking through Pinterest for myself and the park for an easy fun recipe for Easter when I came across this simple Easter Candy idea. With my time becoming more consumed by getting the park ready to reopen I thought this would be easy, quick and tasty. Turns out it’s a really great treat. Enjoy! Easter Marshmallow Bark Ingredients 1 bag white chocolate chips {12 oz} 3 cups mini rainbow marshmallows about 1 TBSP shortening Easter sprinkles or other fun sprinkles for decor on top Directions Measure out 3 cups of marshmallows. Line an 8×11 glass dish or a more »

In case you ever wondered, the most frequent question I get from Labor Day until March 1st every year is, “What do you all winter?” Well believe it or not we spend practically the entire off season preparing for opening day. At the end of every summer we grab a little R&R and then hit the annual WWA Symposium and Trade Show in October. Then we immediately start planning for the next summer from that point forward. We spend time looking at suggestions from our guests; what worked and what didn’t? Where does the facility need improvement? How much does more »
